Have you not considered the possibility that the name of the photo would not be formed only by the name of the layer but there would be a possibility to choose the name from the column in the attribute table + date + time? As there is a possibility to display labels and there you can choose from which attribute the labels are selected.

I agree. This would make the app so much more useful for me and save hours of renaming files
