In certain situations, it may be necessary to capture the raw stream of NMEA messages for detailed analysis or troubleshooting. Locus GIS provides the ability to record NMEA data directly from the GPS. To start logging NMEA messages, follow these steps:
Enable NMEA Recording
- Go to Settings > GPS & Settings > NMEA Recording and select the option “Always”.
Perform Your Work
- Carry out your mapping, testing, or other activities as needed. When finished, close the Locus GIS app.
Access the Recorded Files
- Connect your mobile device to a PC.
- Use a file manager to navigate to the directory:
Android\data\menion.android.locus.gis\files\LocusGIS\data\nmea\ - Locate the NMEA
.logfiles.
Copy for Analysis
- Transfer the
.nmeafiles to your PC for further analysis.
- Transfer the
Disable NMEA Logging
- To prevent excessive data from being written to your device’s memory, return to Settings > GPS & Settings > NMEA Recording and set the option back to “Never” or your preferred setting.
