Recently, Google has tightened its security policies, and as a result, apps that haven't undergone a more thorough security review can no longer access Google Drive data directly. This affects the Locus GIS app, where it's currently not possible to browse and select files directly from Google Drive.

We're actively working on a solution, but it will take some time to implement. In the meantime, we kindly recommend using OneDrive or Dropbox for importing and exporting your data.

If your workflow depends strictly on Google Drive, please follow the steps below to proceed manually.

Import from Google Drive

  • Install Google Drive app.
  • When importing SHP files, please make sure to package the main .shp file along with all required auxiliary files (.dbf.shx, etc.) into a single .ZIP archive.
  • Open Locus GIS > Navigate to the Import function.
  • When selecting the source, choose System File Manager

  • Open menu of File manager and scroll to Google Drive section and select it.

  • Browse Google Drive and locate your .ZIP file

Export to Google Drive

  • Install Google Drive app.

  • Open Locus GIS > Navigate to the Export function.

  • When prompted to select the export source, choose Main Directory and confirm the export.
  • Once the export is complete, a dialog will appear with the option Share.
  • Tap Share, then select the Google Drive app.
  • Browse your Drive and choose the destination folder where you want to save the exported file and submit Upload
