Allow for real time data collection (track record)

Maybe there is a way to do this but currently, I can only figure out how to add point, line, or polygons by hand or on screen digitizing. I want to be able to create line or polygon from the area I am walking. Also, telling the app to collect a point at my precise location instead of trying to tap my location on the map would be great. Any plans for this kind of data collection? Is it already there and I just don't know it?

Hello Brandon,

nono, it's not there. I think we talk about something similar to existing "Track recording" in Locus Map application.

I agree that this is "must have" for certain field tasks, so it's definitely planned.

Good deal. I'll look forward to seeing it in the future. I think it is critical that a GIS data collection program have the ability to collect points, lines, and polygons. I hate to mention other apps out there but there is a app called TerrainGIS that does nothing else really except collect point, lines, and polygons in a shapefile format. If something like that was added into Locus GIS, it would make it one of the best and most useful android GIS platforms out there for mapping and data collection. Thanks for the good work and keep it up.

Menion,

I understand your priority for Locus Map and that work on this is limited but just wondering if you have a time line for the implementation of this feature? I am kind of stuck at testing this app because I need to do real time data collection. Once this feature is implemented, I will be using it quite extensively. As of right now it works great but needs data collection options. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Hi Brandon, sorry for a late response.

Idea implemente ;). Currently only in first easier version. So real-time data tracking use same panel as is in Locus Map. So not best for GIS application, but it works, which is important. You'll see in next BETA version at start of October.

It will be possible to choose between creating feature between time or distance? for example.scoring vertices points after 5 seconds or after walking 5 m?

Thank You for Your work on this app

Do you know system from Locus Map? Then it now use same system of profiles. So yes, it will be possible!

This is great news. I look forward to collecting data with it and will let you know how it goes. Thanks

Menion. You stated that this would take effect at the start of October. I have not seen an update and it is now the end of October. Did the update get delayed? I am running version 0.5.2

Menion,

Sorry to bring up an old question but I was trying to collect some data today as a line feature (not under tracks) and the problem I am having is that after I tell locus to record, it will only make one point in the line unless I manually tell it to add another point to the path I'm on. The feature of real time data collection for lines and polygons needs to have the ability to to collect that data just like track record does in Locus Map. Any garmin, trimble, or other can do this. I was thinking that this feature was working so maybe this is just a glitch but I can not get it to collect new points along the path at some sort of interval. Is this just a glitch or is this not available? If it is not available, that is what I meant by my original question a year ago. I really think it needs to be there. For data collection, I need to be able to tell locus gis to record a line or polygon and have it take a new point every few seconds or meters.
